James Angus is an artist currently based in Sydney. He has been exhibiting his work since 1991 and in 1996 he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship, completing a Master of Fine Arts (sculpture) at the Yale University School of Art.

Angus’ projects are predominantly three-dimensional and often involve computer-aided design software and rapid prototyping systems. His source material typically includes Modern architecture and design, mathematics, natural history and biology. Aspects of his work have also been dedicated to exploring new conditions of objecthood for sculpture in light of recent advances in digital media.

In addition to solo exhibitions at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney; Gavin Brown’s enterprise, New York; Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne; and Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand. Angus’ work has been included in numerous group exhibitions including Face Up, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin (2003); Biennale of Sydney (2002); The Age of Influence, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (2000); and Unfinished History, Walker Art Centre (1998).
