Ri grew up in Frankston during the 70’s to Dutch migrant parents. Ri’s parents decided on a bush change in 1980 and Ri spent the next 20 years in central Victoria working and establishing several farming enterprises. Ri delivered her best creations in 1987, 1990 and 1993; her three daughters. In 1999 Ri returned to study completing a Bachelor of Teaching. Her childhood greatly influenced her life and work in the field of welfare in schools facilitating a bullying and wellbeing program. In 2003 Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome change Ri’s life and unable to work, she turned to a past love – ceramics. Working with clay was initially therapeutic, then addictive and now a way of life. In 2005 Ri returned to La Trobe University to study Visual Arts and ceramics. Ri now lives in Williamstown and is having success with sales in Browz , Williamstown and also via her own ri-creations website. Ri has just had her first exhibition as part of the Art in Public Places Exhibition in Hobsons Bay (March-April 2007) and has also been accepted into the Toyota Spirt Gallery Emerging Artist Exhibition (April - June 2007)
