Two artists responding to the ebb and flow of the forces and contrasts of nature.
Beatrice Magalotti works in a variety of mediums including photographs, sensuous sculpted wooden forms and castings in clay and bronze – her images are aesthetic studies in tone and texture within the wider context of the forces and contrasts of the environment - they evoke feelings of meditative stillness within a process of ongoing change.
Sharyn Madder has been working as a free-lance illustrator for many years. Consequently her subject matter is eclectic and diverse. The work has a strong sense of intimacy. The subject matter often relates to a personal experience as in the piece Shining Sky. Madder writes… “views of the sky from the back of my car window where I was sleeping during the week that I spent at Cape Otway participating in the Dinosaur Dig. I was conscious of the immensity of the sky, the universe, the passing of time. The dinosaurs we searched for once walked under the same sky which has changed very little since then. I fell asleep thinking about time and what a blink of an eyelid is a whole life.”
