CITY OF KOGARAH ART PRIZE

26/Jun/2012 - 15/Jul/2012

VENUE: Kogarah Library

Kogarah Art Prize is an event which recognises the work of local artists, and brings artwork from around Australia to Kogarah.

The City of Kogarah Art Prize is an annual, national,
acquisitive prize for painting – in any medium – with a
prize pool of $12,000 and an open theme.
Council is an enthusiastic supporter of arts and culture in
the community and the Kogarah Art Prize is an event which
recognises the work of local artists, and brings artwork
from around Australia to Kogarah for everyone to enjoy.
We are building an art collection for the Kogarah community,
so the art prize is acquisitive, which means the winning
artworks become part of the Kogarah art collection.
There are two main prizes; the ‘Kogarah Art Prize’ is the
major prize of $8,000 and open to all Australian residents.
The ‘Place of Reeds Art Prize’ of $2,000 is open to artists
living in the Kogarah local government area and includes
a solo exhibition at Kogarah Library and Cultural Centre in
March 2013. There are also prizes for Kogarah high school
students, emerging artists and commended entries.
The inaugural City of Kogarah Art Prize will be judged by
Barry Pearce, Emeritus Curator, Art Gallery of NSW.
The City of Kogarah Art Prize will be exhibited at
Kogarah Library and Cultural Centre from 26 June to
15 July 2012. The prize winners will be announced on
Wednesday 27 June 2012.
