ART AND TECHNOLOGY COLLIDE

Experimenta‘s 5th International Biennial of Media Art will showcase interactive contemporary Australian and international artworks that engage with technology.

The exhibition Speak To Me questions how people communicate and connect with each other at this time. In a rapidly changing technological field, how do you now consider these new relationships to the world, technology and each other? What does this connectedness offer you?

As the main venue, RMIT Gallery features internationally renowned artists such as Hiroshi Ishiguro, a robotics expert who will present his latest emphatic robot; French art collective Scenocosme with their interactive sensory light and sound work, and Taiwanese artist Shih Chieh Huang with an organic living environment and sculpture featuring vivid, phosphorescent lighting systems. Sydney-based artist Wade Marynowsky‘s spooky wardrobe android - The Acconci Robot - will stalk viewers as they turn around, while Melbourne artist Eugenia Lim explores the Japanese phenomenon of “hikikomori” or “shut-in syndrome” in her video performance installation Nest.
