Works by Penelope Richardson and Bella Wells
Public spaces and everyday signage are the inspiration behind this exhibition of new works by artists Penelope Richardson and Bella Wells. Informed by the artists' previous involvement in public art projects, their works explore the margins between graffiti and art (Wells) and respond to public spectacle and the ambience of public space using large scale drawing, photography and an accessible construction (Richardson).
A giant interactive 'scratchie' will be installed in the gallery entrance. Visitors to the gallery will be encouraged to scratch into the surface to reveal underlying images and text, or leave their own mark.
