Escence XV, Collagraph
Glass has been a means of expression since ancient times and whilst usually functional, it can also provide visual stimulation and quiet introspection. Lin has long been fascinated with the endless interplay between reflected light and the various colour changes it can produce.
Her new exhibition “Intrigue” consists of a series of 24 vibrantly coloured collagraphs that encompass her fascination with the complexity, mystery and beauty of light reflections. Gold embellishments further enhance the mystery and lead the viewer into an inner world of quiet meditation.
Collagraph prints are created using a textured plate; a collage. When inked and printed under the pressure of an etching press, the resultant print has a richly embossed texture. Chine colle is also used in many of her works to give added light, magic and intrigue.
The creation of these small prints has been complex, some using 5 plates and up to 10 colours. All are produced in a limited edition and are archivally framed. Unframed prints are also available.
