RECENT WORK BY JAMIE SHEPHEARD
Jamie Shepheard is a contemporary Sydney based artist, currently studying his Masters of Studio Art at Sydney College of the Arts, his mixed media works combine techniques of screen printing, textiles, painting, photography and new media.
ARTISTS STATEMENT: My practice is a hybrid art form influenced by textile art, photography and new media, that juxtaposes craft methods and media, and new technologies with 'fine art' concepts, and is a product of a subversive generation of practitioners and theorists where a dominant imperative is the conquest of a new style, and style is inherent to artistic justification and legitimisation. Recent investigations have been in the translation and recreation of traditional print and textile print techniques and results into digital means and media.
