Just a short ferry ride from the CBD lies World-Heritage-listed Cockatoo Island. Cockatoo Island played a pivotal role in Australia’s convict and shipbuilding history. Now open to the pulic for free (or the cost of the ferry ride), it now hosts a number of art events.
